Christmas within the Shalom-Desplantes community and Lead Haiti Academy.

For children, waiting for Christmas can be as exciting as the holiday itself. And this year for Christmas, our youngest academicians were spoiled with games and gifts.

Holidays seasons are opportunities to create a special family atmosphere as well as beautiful memories for our children. Christmas is no exception. It is a holiday that gives adults opportunity to become children again. It allows us to share with children a part of their imaginary world.

But how can we make the magic of Christmas last more than just one day? How can we transmit values other than those linked to consumption to these children?

Miss Nathalie, tutor for the little ones at the Lead Haiti Academy, wanted to answer these questions by organizing this year’s Christmas party for these children.

With the help of members at the management team and the blessing of the CEO of Lead Haiti, Reverend Pastor Jose Jean-Pierre, this year’s Christmas party was a success.

Historically, the only way to learn something without having experienced it yourself is to rely on testimony and/or manifestation. In short: actions speak louder than words. “Santa Claus” is a perfect example. And that’s sort of why this year’s Christmas party at Leaad Haiti Academy was imagined for children and planned with children:

In addition to the many gifts received, the children were the highlight of this year’s show. They sang, danced, recited poetry and even pronounced the words of closure at the ceremony before going to the large refectory room where, accompanied by their parents and families, they ate and drank with the greatest joy.

Because Christmas permeates our culture to excess, we take it for granted. And because some think Santa Claus is a lie told to children by adults, some do not consider it a serious subject. However, the Christmas holiday and its Santa Claus can teach us a lot about ourselves.

Children are sensitive to our actions. The result is that they believe in it, and often conform to the teachings learned during these festive periods.

And why would it be any different for our children here at Lead Haiti Academy?

Monthly and annual donations from our partners and sponsors have made the success of our activities possible. The Academy management staff thanks you and our children wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2024.
